Item Description
This premium club kit was issued by Taystee Bread in 1934 featuring one of the earliest superheroes - Mandrake the Magician. Original mailing envelope w/Mandrake Magician's Club return address has typed recipient name/address and contains kit which consists of 3x5" double-sided welcome card, 2-3/8x3" membership card w/Mandrake seal and penciled name (that matches name on envelope) and 8.25x10.5" single-sided sheet showing "New Magic Tricks For Club Members Only." This sheet bears Mandrake portrait and ad for Taystee Bread. Folded as issued. Envelope shows moderate aging/handling wear and is VG. Welcome card has penciling around image of hand giving "The Secret Sign Of Mandrake The Magician" as well as some tiny indents from club badge (not included but the most common part of the kit). Missing section badge was attached to. Still VF overall. Membership card has club seal w/Mandrake portrait and hand-drawn secret sign hand on back. Exc. Magic trick sheet has been folded as issued and is Exc. Scarce.
