Beautiful set of 40 stiff 2.5x3-5/8” cards. Cards in super clean condition without creases and soil. Extremely trivial corner tip wear, barely larger than pinpoint size. Overall Exc. but most are NM. Along with circus characters and animals, individual cards show The Yellow Kid, Billy Bear and black girl Topsy plus Buster on all 40 cards. Comes with instruction folder. 5.75x7.5” box bottom is flat with one side panel gone and two strips of linen tape holding two other panels. Box lid has linen tape holding one of original four side panels. Minor wear on lid art but box could be easily restored. Made by “Selchow & Righter” with signature “R.F. Outcault” at bottom right plus “Permission N.Y. Herald.” Likely c. 1904-1906. Our last boxed set a year ago realized $600.
