Item Description
3.75" diameter by 1.25" thick metal paperweight/calendar by American Emblem Company Inc. features high relief wings design at top like the premium badge. 1940. Underside has original paper label w/handwritten order/production figures for New England Calendar & Novelty Co. distributor. Top has inset celluloid-covered window w/Dec. 1940 calendar page. Two wheels to right of this were designed to advance paper calendar strip, but these do not function as this is a distributor sample. Scattered aging but VF overall. Hawks was a skilled aviator who was an air instructor during WWI and who gave future aviatrix Amelia Earhart her first airplane ride in 1920. He held numerous speed and distance records. By 1935, he had his own radio program. Very rare. This is the only known example and is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
