Item Description
Rare pair of promotional movie theater giveaways for the original releases of 1930s films starring Lionel Barrymore. 1-7/16" thin cardboard disc reads "You'll Be Tipped The Black Spot If you Don't See Treasure Island," a reference to the ill-fated mark mentioned in Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" and the 1934 film adaptation starring Jackie Cooper and Wallace Beery. Disc has some scattered edge wear and faint crease. VF. Rare as easily lost/discarded. 2-1/8x7-7/8" die-cut stiff paper bookmark advertises 1937's adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Courageous," showing Barrymore at ship's wheel at top and images of Spencer Tracy and Freddie Bartholomew. Bookmark mentions similar nautical adventure "Mutiny On The Bounty." Creases to top of Barrymore's head and across shoulders w/.25" tear at head w/archival tape repair on back. Fine overall. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
