Item Description
2.5x3.5". The 1972-73 Topps basketball set consists of 264 cards featuring both NBA and ABA players. Both leagues' cards include a set of all-star selections with other subsets including Playoffs and Statistical Leaders also included. Virginia Squires. Dr. J followed up his collegiate career at U Mass. by joining the upstart ABA Virginia Squires before moving on to the Brooklyn-based New Jersey Nets a couple of seasons later. Erving quickly established himself as the ABA's premier player, taking the League Championship and MVP award. Also one of the key influences in the merger of the two leagues, Julius would eventually join the NBA's Philadelphia 76'ers and win another World Championship with them in 1983 teaming with HOF Center Moses Malone to form one of the finest clubs in NBA history. Erving was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.
