Auction 190 - Part II
Item numbers 955 through 2671 in auction 190
Item Description
Lot of two 11x14” thin paper sheets with art done in pen with watercolor accents. Hand-lettered text lower right: “©1932 King Features Syndicate Inc.” Seems to be the original art for lampshades known to exist with this scene. Artist is unknown, however art came directly from Bud Sagendorf to our consignor who asked Sagendorf to sign it, which he did. Sagendorf was Popeye creator Elzie Segar’s son-in-law, who assisted Segar on the strip and eventually became the main artist for many years. Each page has vertical creases. Random edge tears with two corners missing, not affecting art. Aging. Sheets are VG, but art remains Exc. Comes with Hake’s COA.
