Item Description
In addition to Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill (see previous three lots), the Wild West themed shows included Frederick T. Cummin. His Indian Congress appeared in Buffalo in 1901 but this is from the next World's Fair in 1904. This 3.75x5" celluloid appears as a real photo, but actually has a very fine dot screen plus numerous hand tinted colors. The big assembly of Indians on horseback represent the "51 Tribes" included in the show. Headliners were Chief Blue Horse, Chief Red Cloud and the legendary Geronimo who sold photos of himself and his autograph to the crowds. The concave metal back has paper sticker of maker St. Louis Button Co. plus the original wire easel (.25" oxidation mark on  left edge of wire). Only the tiniest traces of wear to the cello in reflected light. Exc. One known. Alan Weinberg Collection.
