Item Description
1.25" illustration on real photo paper without dot screen. Rarely seen concave back with fixed brass bar pin. Center of back has 3/8" open area containing a back paper reading "Loryea" with text below "624 Riverside Avenue/Spokane, Wash./Pin-Lock  But. Co./Pat/Pend." This rare button promotes Spokane's most famous saloon and gambling house which catered to surrounding mining camps for prospectors embarking on the gold rush to Alaska. The owner was Doc Brown, also a numismatist who at Christmas starting in 1898 issued engraved silver coins and Battleship Maine relics to advertise his saloon.
