Item Description
29 x 40" w/fringe. Two-piece banner. Back panel has moisture marks from storage. Paint wear and moderate handling from use. VG. Discovered together w/other state and Just Government League (JGL) banners in a Maryland estate, see lots #464-470. Marches staged by the JGL attracted activist groups from around the country to Maryland. Baltimore hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1912 and the JGL helped stage a large parade on June 28, 1912, to persuade delegates to adopt a suffrage plank to the party's platform. This banner was potentially part of this parade that featured delegations from multiple states. See additional JGL history in lot #464.
