Item Description
1-3/8" tall tab has "Negro Labor Council" in small text at 6 o'clock. Graphic of black and white clasped hands w/chains in background. Was previously bent and now flattened w/moderate paint wear. VF. Button is 15/16" w/"National Council For A Permanent FEPC" back paper. Additional text "Fair Employment Practices Commission" on front. Moderate wear in reflected light. Exc. The FEPC was implemented by Executive Order 8802 which required companies w/government contracts not to discriminate on the basis of race or religion. Its intent was to help African-Americans and other minorities to obtain jobs in home front industries at the beginning of WWII.
