Item Description
From the same set as lot #782. Card front reads "Santa Clara B.B.C. Brown-Pitcher." Dave Brown played three winters in Cuba, including a stint with the legendary Santa Clara team during their 1923-24 season. Considered one of the better pitchers in Negro League history, he was also known for serious off the field problems. His career came to a sudden halt in 1925 when, sought in connection with a New York homicide, he disappeared.
