Item Description
10x14" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Relatos Salvajes Artes Marciales (Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu) #37, which reprints US Marvel Premiere Featuring Master of Kung Fu issues #29, #36 and #37 (featuring Razor-Fist and Darkstrider and the Warlords of the Web) and was published in Spain by Mundi, Marvel Comics Group, c. 1975. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing an reinterpretation based on art from the US issue cover #36 by Buckler and Espoia (aka Frank Giacoia). Art area measures 10x14.5" w/art edge to edge. Back of artboard has handwritten "Kung Fu 15" at top in black felt tip pen and four tape spots on right edge. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear (one bumped) but o/w art remains bright, clean and Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
