Item Description
From same set as lot #782 and one of the key cards. Card front reads "Habana B.B.C. Cooper-Pitcher". Cooper played nine seasons for the Detroit Stars and ten seasons for the Kansas City Monarchs, pitching in the 1936 All-Star game at the age of 40. During his peak seasons throughout the 1920s, Cooper fashioned records of 14-5, 15-8, 12-5, 12-1, 12-8 and 7-3, all with the Detroit Stars club. Cooper spent several winters in the Cuban League, starring for Habana. In addition, Cooper toured the Orient as part of the Lonnie Goodwin All-Star team during the winter of 1933-34. He also managed the Monarchs from 1937 to 1940, winning the pennant three times. He was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 2006.
