Item Description
From the same set as lot #782. Card front reads "Marianao B.B.C. Love-Pitcher". Edward "Slim" Love played in MLB for several teams including the Washington Senators (1913), the New York Yankees (1916-18), and the Detroit Tigers (1919-20) with a career line of 28-21, 3.04 ERA, and 251 strikeouts. He did spend a single season in the Cuban Winter league, which is reflected on this card, but had a less than stellar season splitting his time between Marianao and Habana in the 1923-24 season with a win/loss record of 0-5 through 13 games between both clubs. "Slim" Love, upon his debut in the majors, became the tallest pitcher in the history of the game at 6'- 7.5", a record he held for 69 years.
