Item Description
17.75x23" mat contains illustration board w/mixed media original art for cover to 1950s British comic John Wayne Adventure Comics #47, distributed by World Distributors. Art is by Walt Howarth (1928-2008), a British illustrator best known for his work on numerous British comic annuals (most of them for World Distributors) in a career that spanned 60 years. Art has been matted to 11.75x16.5" and shows The Duke blasting away in barroom gunfight. Art has hand-painted title (and price at bottom left), painted photostat of Wayne at upper left and applied "The Film And Television Favourite" stat text block below title. Howarth has signed at lower left. Exc. Comes w/COA signed by Howarth.
