Item Description
Each is 1.25" with matching St. Louis Button Co. back papers. Billy's MLB career as a player spanned 1913-1929 for five different teams. As a manager, his teams were: St. Louis Cardinals 1929, 1940-45 and Boston Braves 1946-1951. World Series champ in 1926, 1942, 1944. He was inducted in the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2008. All buttons in this lot date to the 1940s (two with inked dates on the back papers). Each button features his facsimile signature. Designs are: cardinal on bat logo, Native American chief head logo, real photo portrait of him in Braves cap, "8th Annual Sports Nite/P.O.E. 157 Kenton, OH" one day event issue. Photo and 'Nite" buttons have some spotting. All have lt. surface wear under magnification. Fine to Exc. An instant collection of rare buttons, two of which are book examples.
