Item Description
Original 8x10" glossy portrait depicting long-time Negro League and MLB star pitcher, Joe Black during his Cuban Winter League stint for the 1952 season. Black began his professional baseball career with the Baltimore Elite Giants in 1943 and remained with that Negro League club until 1950, when he signed a minor league contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. Making his MLB debut in 1952, Joe would go on to win the Rookie of the Year award that season while also finishing in third place in the National League MVP voting, an amazing accomplishment. Back has the famous RFN Fotos stamp from Habana, Cuba along w/handwritten player identification. "Joe Black" paper caption attached at lower right-hand corner on front. Moderate margin wear and staining. Creasing at top right corner and other handling wear. Remains glossy, VG.
