Item Description
This was a much publicized fight between Dempsey, the reigning champ and "The Fighting Marine" Gene Tunney. In fact, in 1926 the makers of these flat and heavy, two-sided detailed, white metal paperweights did not even bother putting the contestants' names on them. Front side showing boxers reads "World's Championship/1926/Sesqui-Centennial" and the other has big Liberty Bell scene and tiny words "The Sesqui-Centennial Philadelphia". Each piece is accented by bow design at top and two round ball "feet" at bottom. The unpainted piece has lost both "feet" but otherwise Exc. and the gold painted piece (about 90% intact) remains complete and Exc. First we've seen. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
