Item Description
5.75" tall glass Codd-neck bottle that once held Ramune, a Japanese carbonated soft drink. The heavy glass bottle mouth was sealed by a round marble (instead of a cap) due to pressure of the carbonated contents. Marble seal has been broken (marble and seal can be seen within bottle) and beverage contents emptied, but paper label w/Batman portrait and Japanese text remains over mouth of bottle. Produced exclusively for the Japanese market, c. 1966. Label shows obvious aging and wear, both from the removal of the liquid and due to the fact they were not designed to survive. VG. Rare and first we've seen w/label still intact. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
