Item Description
Lot of seven approx. 34x44" sheets of engineering paper, each featuring lead pencil original art for seven different components or levels of design for schematics used to create the final blueprints for Kenner's unproduced Super Powers - Tower Of Darkness playset, of which only a couple complete painted prototype playsets were produced for Toy Fair and photography use. They playset itself was advertised in the 1986 Toy Fair catalog and on Super Powers Third Series figure cardbacks. Playset is referred to as "Darkseid, Tower Of Rage" on schematics. While the design elements incorporating DC Comics villain Darkseid's face into design are not present, one sheet does feature door design, which was directly below Darkseid's face. Sheets bears handwritten notations and measurements and at least one has been dated 1985. Sheets have been rolled and show some scattered handling/edge wear including margin tears (some w/tape repairs) and are Fine to VF overall. Pre-production items for this fabled item are unheard of, w/this piece a must-have for Super Powers collectors. Truly a one-of-a-kind and unbelievably rare to have survived. Bill Byers Collection.
