Item Description
11x17" offset print on thin card stock produced before the show for promotion. Advertising a concert w/the Los Angeles based forfathers of alternative rock on April 14 at Starry Night (now Roseland Theater) in Portland, OR. Touring in support of their debut studio album Nothing's Shocking playing the noted Portland rock club w/a crowd capacity of under 1,000. Clearly this poster was used in promotion w/staple holes, clear tape repaired tears and loss at lower left. Just Good. A nice example of the big and bold text required to draw a viewer's attention from a telephone pole and only the third we've encountered. A scarce poster from the highly influential band's artistic height.

Jane's Addiction spent much of 1988 touring as a supporting act for Iggy Pop and the Ramones while promoting their debut studio album "Nothings Shocking." They quickly accelerated to headlining clubs across the country despite a lack of airplay for the single "Mountain Song" due to MTV refusing to air the video because of a scene w/full-frontal nudity. "Nothings Shocking" still managed to sell 250,000 copies that year and peaked at #106 on the Billboard Hot 200. The band continued to gain a loyal cult following via its live shows and later founded the Lollapalooza music festival in 1991 securing their status as icons of alternative rock.
