Item Description
1.25" with curl naming maker Bastian while fancy red/cream back paper reads "Toys/G.A. Schwarz/1006 Chestnut St. Philadelphia". Front imprint is "53rd Christmas At Schwarz's". Gustavus Adolphus Schwarz, brother to Frederick August Otto (F.A.O.), opened his Philadelphia store in 1859 making this button c. 1912. The store folded in 1917 in the face of difficulties in importing German toys during the war. A scarce button with rare imprint. NM.
