Item Description
2-1/8" dia. without Bastian paper but with their name on the curl. Button design is dominated by image of bare-breasted mermaid emerging from water, her hair discreetly covering her bosom. Sailboats can be seen in bkg., set against scallop shell design. "Long Beach Festival Of The Sea" text is made of either eels or sea snakes, each w/tiny facial details. Additional text includes "Long Beach, Calif. - Sept. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. 1908." Entire reverse has thin  surface rust and front has tan age on the border. In addition, there are two tiny damaged areas on the celluloid. One is a pin sized hole on the left side where her hair covers her breast and the other is a less than 1/8" spot of missing cello on the lower right side at 4:30. The cello also has all over but light general surface wear showing only in reflected light. Overall condition is VG. Classic button and among the most stunning buttons ever produced. We've offered this scarce and highly sought button about 10 times in our 55 years.
