Item Description
6x9.25" hardcover w/216 pages. Written by George Lowther and published by Random House in 1942, this is the very first Superman prose book ever published w/original stories and unique art, including illustrations throughout by Joe Shuster, co-creator of Superman. These appear at the beginning/ending of chapters as well as six full-page illustrations and four choice full color plates. Dustjacket shows Superman bounding over Metropolis skyline. Dustjacket shows obvious wear w/tears and creases along top/bottom margins w/three interior tape repairs at top and four interior tape repairs to bottom. Top edge of dustjacket has 2.75x3.25" V-shaped color photocopy replacement piece. Dustjacket remains unclipped and is Good/VG overall. Book itself has some lt. corner tip wear and a few age spots along top margin of back cover, but not overly distracting. Inner binding has aging to inside front/back covers. Fine/VF overall. Frontispiece has vintage newspaper bookplate. Pages are evenly aged and Exc.
