Item Description
1.75" very graphic bright red button (Wisconsin's primary team color) with portrait and text "Wisconsin/The Four/Horseman's/Fourth Year". Under coach Knute Rockne, Stuhldreyer was the Notre Dame quarterback 1922-24. He had very brief pro-career and  then coached at Villanova 11 years (1925-1935) before moving to Univ. of Wisconsin in 1936 so his "4th Year" makes this a 1939 issue. He remained there till 1948 and in 1958 joined the College Football Hall Of Fame. Reverse has St. Louis Button Co. paper. The button is rare and glossy NM. Alan Weinberg Collection.
