Item Description
1.5" button pictures Grange with word "Souvenir" beneath the celluloid covering and a gold decal applied on top of the celluloid reading "Souvenir Of San Francisco, Cal." This rare button is from the January 24, 1926 Pacific coast game against the San Francisco Tigers. The Chicago Bears lost 9-4, their only loss of the nine game tour. The public's curiosity about Grange and pro football caused many sports writers to increase their attention to the sport and brought much interest. Only our second example with this decal and our first with the original purple and white accent ribbons. Reverse has .25" cello split along the collet making a very small bump on top edge. The decal is missing most of red ribbon-like accents at left and right but all text is intact. A black smudge at far left is under the cello in the printing. Full gloss and no stain. Fine. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
