Item Description
11.25x14.25x1-5/8" deep box w/wonderfully illustrated lid contains parts for Blue Ribbon Books set, ©1933. Box shows some scattered aging/wear and remains tight. VF. Box is complete w/insert that holds paintbrush, scissors and attached cardboard palette w/ten paint tabs. Missing generic metal tube of glue to mount the cut-outs and envelope of paper fasteners used to assemble the books. Sheet of green cellophane used as a wrap to contain/hold in place the included books has become brittle w/age and has ripples/cracks/splits; a section of this is loose and just comes along. Books that could be assembled include - "Mickey Mouse At The Zoo, Mickey Mouse Playing School, Mickey Mouse's Garden" and "Mickey Mouse At Play." Each book comes w/full color sheet of character images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Pluto that were meant to be cut out and pasted onto indicated areas in book illustrations. Each book also contains b/w illustrations that were meant to be painted w/issued supplies. Set is missing all sheets for "Mickey Mouse At The Zoo" and aside from one Mickey image being cut from "Mickey Mouse's Garden," contents remain in high grade, unused condition (not including cut page, which shows handling wear), having never even been folded as intended. Paints remain unused. Majority of contents are VF to NM w/just some scattered lt. aging. Among the rarest of any 1930s Disney books, this just the second boxed example we've offered in our 55 years, our last example selling for an astounding $24,447 in 2018.
