Item Description
1.75". No maker. A number of different PM10's were made for Jackie but all others show him in his Brooklyn Dodgers uniform. This one, possibly the first issued for Jackie during his rookie season of 1947, pictures him in his pre-MLB days. Jackie Robinson made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947 for Branch Rickey's Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African American ballplayer in the modern Major Leagues. Robinson would go on to win the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1947. He was inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Trace of surface oxidation on metal back. A cello separation along curl from 12 to 1 o'clock that likely occurred in manufacturing and created an air mark in the top field that just touches the top of his cap. Otherwise, scattered hairline scratches seen in reflected light. Still glossy and VF. The only time we have offered this Robinson rarity in our 55 years. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
