Item Description
Black Book Detective was a long-running pulp known for its vivid covers and for introducing a cowled crimefighter who went by the name of The Black Bat. Following the debut of DC Comics' Batman by two months, the bat-inspired heroes obviously shared some similarities and were clearly in development almost simultaneously. Offered here is Vol. 9 #2 issue of Black Book Detective, published July 1939 by Better Publications, Inc. Brand Of The Black Bat cover story by G. Wayman Jones (pseudonym of Norman Daniels)  introduced readers to Tony Quinn, aka The Black Bat. Cover features moderate edge wear w/heavy chipping to right and bottom margins of back cover. Both front/back covers have tape repairs to inner margin edges. Spine has faded. Pages have tanned w/age but remain supple. Good/VG overall. Scarce.
