Item Description
1.5" tall w/hinged horizontal pin on reverse. Die cut arm wielding sword above a banner w/text "Sound Money" against a blue enamel background. Gold backed medallion features an albumen portrait w/moderate surface wear. Gold on hanger and encasing portrait tests to 14K gold. Badge is attached to a 3.25x2.75" card w/hand written text at bottom "McKinley Badge Worn By H. C. Richie During The Presidential Campaign Of 1896" and additional history of candidates below. Flanking badge on card is text speaking to positions of McKinley and Bryan respectively. While we've encountered a similar brass badge, this is the only 14K gold example known to us and was likely produced in extremely limited quantities.
