Item Description
12.25x16.25"frame w/9.5x13.5" opening. c. 1845. Image after a John Trumbull painting titled "Death Of General Warren At The Battle Of Bunker Hill". Ben Franklin quote "The Path To Liberty Is Bloody" at bottom center w/key figures in illustration identified at left and right. Print has light even age w/minimmal scattered foxing. Nicely hand colored and displays well. Overall Fine. Notably at bottom right is a depiction of Lieutenant Thomas Grosvenor and an enslaved African American servant likely named Asaba who fought against the British during this landmark battle. He is later recorded as a free servant in Grosvenor family records.
