Item Description
2-1/8" w/W&H back paper but primary text is "The Implement Trade Journal of Kansas City is the only weekly implement paper at One Dollar a year. Including complete directory, revised and issued quarterly. You Need It In Your Business". From what we gather Job Rickets was a humor column written in country bumpkin dialect and full of mis-spellings. The few columns we've found were reprinted from the Journal in local newspapers from Nebraska to California. They begin "Deer Mistur Editur" and go on in a humorous vein about business conditions or politics. They are typically signed at end "Yours Truly/Job Rickets/Hardtown Mo." We believe Job was a fictional creation but here he is on this button with two young bare-breasted women, each with an arm and hand wrapped around his neck. Pictured in Collectible Pin-Back Buttons 1896-1986 by Ted Hake in the Farm Equipment section as #216 but this is this first example we can recall offering in our 55 years. Two known. Exc. Rare.
