Item Description
5x5.5x8.5" tall very nicely designed by Imswiler & Saylor issued in 1960 to commemorate Hawaii becoming the 50th state. "Penny" has realistically designed pineapple head while upper body has star on chest reading "50th" and back is marked "July 4, 1960/Penny Pineapple/Hawaii." When a coin is placed in her right hand and a lever on back is pressed, she raises her hand to her mouth and "swallows" the coin as her tongue recedes and her eyes roll up into her head. Underside is marked w/company name as well as "1st Run Of 500." Bank has some tiny and widely scattered paint flakes but remains N. Mint. Great action. Comes w/photocopy of an article on this bank that originally appeared in the Aug. 1960 issue of Hobbies Magazine written by noted bank collector F. H. Griffith.
