Item Description
1.25 to 2.75". United Farm Workers cause buttons span Chavez and Dolores Huerta's early efforts through the UFW. Standouts include: State Liberty "Huelga" Strike/Rio Grande City Texas (Melon Strike in 1966 that sought to raise Delano, Texas Melon Pickers' minimum wage to $1.25 an hour and improve the long hours, non existent medical treatment and tin shack company housing for families), Exc.; "One Union For Farm Workers" Zapata/MLK/Kennedy refers to the 1966 merger of the Filipino and Mexican Unions into United Farm Workers following the Delano Strike; "We Shall Overcome Scabs, Schenley's & Sacremento" Zapata portrait believed to be from the 1966 March from Delano to Sacramento (Star Engraving S.F.; graphic Grape Strike; A.W.O.C. "Support Grape Strike"; Spanish/English variations on "Fight For Socialism/Delano"; "Revolution" w/Zapata and Guevera portraits (N.G. Slater Corp. NYC.); Juan De La Cruz (60 y/o UFW worker who was assassinated by a passing protester on the picket lines near Arvin, CA during a grape strike in 1973); "Organize TFW"/Cockroach Graphic (may reference the Temporary Foreign Workers effort and "Union Bug"/I.U.D.T.W. on curl) also possibly unseen; "Texas Farm Worker" graphic pair; "Support Delano Grape Strike" (Star Engraving Co. S.F.); "United We Will Win" integrated hand shake; Cesar Chavez for Governor; "Campesino" (a word which translates loosely to migrant worker/landless farmer) and "Justice for Farm Workers" pair; "Salinas Valley"; (17 total "Black Eage/Aztec Eagle" designs including "Salinas Valley", "No On Nixon/No On 22", "Yes on 14" (1976 measure to re-institute the CA Agricultural Relations Board), "Victory in Delano/Cesar Chavez", "May 10th/Safeway" and Vietnam/Skull design; and finally five positively stunning neon variants on the "Zapata/We Will Win" design. For obvious reasons, most buttons have union bug curls. Many of these examples are not found online, and unless noted are NM. It could take years to repeat this collection, if even possible.
