1" w/"Parisian Nov. Co. Chicago" on curl at 6 o'clock. The 1910 census listed 352,710 Alabama residents as illiterate. By 1915 a statewide campaign had begun selling these buttons as fundraisers. The predominant group affected was African Americans. Moderate wear in reflected light. Exc. Rare.
