Item Description
Lot of three items from the first year of the park ©1955. This restaurant (also known as Captain Hook's Pirate Ship and as the Chicken Of The Sea Restaurant) was a Disneyland landmark from 1955 until 1982. First and foremost in this lot is the large and striking 24x62" poster. At center are doubloons with text "Pirate Ship/Value Days." Text at bottom reads "Visit The Chicken Of The Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant In Disneyland." At right is large image of their trademark mermaid with text "For Smooth-Sailing Recipes." At left is pirate ship again with mermaid trademark appearing on the ship's figurehead and flag. Minor handling wear, trace of wear along original fold lines. Bright and clean with vibrant color. Exc. Second item is 9x13" paper placemat. This features illustration of pirate wearing hat with mermaid trademark next to pirate ship matching design on the poster although this time with crew members. Border design includes pirate-related images and text including "Hoist The Jolly Roger And Give Them A Shot Across Their Bow." Scattered margin wear including small tip off top two corners, some small tears, small archival tape repair on reverse. Sheet remains clean, Fine. Third item is 6.5" square napkin. Front and back feature same images as the placemat of pirate and ship. Napkin opens to reveal two panels, one is a maze puzzle titled "Find Captain Peg-Leg's Treasure" while the other is a secret code and message for finding "Where My Treasure Is Buried." Lightly aged but Exc. All 3 are the first we've seen.
