Item Description
4.5" long. Brooch measures 1.75"x2-1/8" w/oval cello measuring 1-5/8" wide. Cello has "Rochester 19" union bug at 9 o'clock. This single-day event item from the Democratic State Convention in Grand Rapids, MI, on September 21, 1928 has only minor surface wear on the cello, full luster on the brooch, and only the slightest loss of gold application on the ribbon. Exc. Comstock was defeated in the 1926, 1928 and 1930 campaigns but would claim victory in 1932 becoming the 33rd Gov. of MI. Scarce and one of the very best Smith coattails.
