Issued by the Appeal to Reason (Girard, Kansas) packed w/hard facts and statistics on industry profits, death tallies, presidential campaign budgets, child labor, state prohibition or women's suffrage. Fred Warren (editor of this volume) is said to have commissioned Upton Sinclair to write a novel about Chicago's meat packing houses, paying him an advance for rights to first publish "The Jungle" serialized. Other notable contributors to the publication had been Mother Jones, Eugene Debs and Jack London. Red leather, 112 pgs. Expected wear from pocket use, some binding separation w/pencil markings inside covers. VF.
