Item Description
9.5x11.25". Attack on Andrew Johnson outlaying lives and dollars lost in the "Rebellion" and the "Murder of President Lincoln". An unusually sensitive reconstruction broadside, it presents specific tallies of White and "Colored" troops who served, died or were kept prisoner during the war. Specifically calling Johnson complicit w/the Confederate Mayor whose reintroduction of pre-Civil War Black Codes led to the New Orleans Massacre of 1866, in which 200 freed black men and their supporters were slaughtered for their protest. Found only in the LOC archives online. Pencil, edge tears, foxing and punctures. VF.
