12x16.5" overall. Urgent appeal issued Sept. 13, 1862 to the men of Newton, Massachusetts for willing conscripts, threatening an impending draft. Situated between the Second Battle of Bull Run and just days before the Battle of Antietam the tone is desperate. Printed by S. Chism - Franklin Printing House, 112 Congress Street Boston. "Second Battle Of Bull Run. Confederates Victorious" text attached to the frame's reverse w/early framing label. Nicely preserved w/even toning. Exc.
