Item Description
4.5" long w/11/16" cello. Union bug on curl at 6 o'clock. Rally held in Columbus, Ohio at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. According to the Marion Star, there were over 6,000 in attendance. There was a bomb scare that "sent law enforcement officers on a search of the building during the program, but there was no evacuation. Nothing turned up." Jackie Robinson was the guest speaker at the event, and was impressed w/the turnout, proclaiming it to be perhaps the largest rally since the famous March on Washington. An excellent crossover piece intersecting sports and politics that would make a welcome addition to any civil rights display.
