Item Description
5x12.5" on thin paper. Quote at top by U.S. Grant reads "Let Us Have Peace." Upper section of ballot depicts soldiers w/imagery of Columbia holding an American flag and text reading "Regular Republican Ticket." William Clafin is below as the gubernatorial candidate, w/Benjamin Butler listed as the Republican candidate for Congress. Butler was first elected to Congress in 1866, and was running for re-election in 1868. Ballot has edge wear and moderate handling, w/horizontal crease in the middle, and diagonal crease about .75" above middle. Fine. Scarce 1868 ballot w/1884 third party presidential candidate Ben Butler.
