Item Description
1. 75" rare smaller size with other varieties not this old (from post  July 1, 1907) typically  larger. The "I.T." inscription is the unique aspect of this pocket mirror. The advertiser is "Drink Bettes' Soda Water, So. McAlester, I.T.". This town, located at early 19th century Oklahoma Territory crossroads has a fascinating history from original Native Americans thru Civil War, railroads, coal deposits and the opening of the West. So. McAlester grew faster than the original town so for statehood they were combined into the single McAlester town officially by the USPO July 1, 1907. The cartoon scene is captioned "The Early Bird Catches The Worm". Silvering has many streaks but little loss. Cello is NM. The only mirror we can recall offering with "I.T." designation. Rare. Unique in our experience. Also see Arizona Territory cigar advertising matchsafe, lot #662. Alan Weinberg Collection.
