Item Description
1.25" (30mm). Copper. "Maj. Gen. Wm. H. Harrison" above military portrait. DeWitt WHH-1836-1. Reverse reads "Resolution Ff Congress April 4, 1816," along top w/bottom reading "Battle Of Thames Oct. 5, 1813". This medal is meant to commemorate the heroism of Harrison at the Battle of Thames, one of the key victories in the War of 1812. Congress officially recognized Harrison's valor after it passed a joint resolution in 1818. Obverse has diagonal 3/8" scratch at 10 o'clock, otherwise moderate wear. Reverse has very slightly off-center strike w/light wear. VF.
