Item Description
1" to 2.5". 27 pieces in total. McCloskey was a Congressman from California who was elected in 1967 after defeating Shirley Temple in a Republican primary. He ran against Nixon during the Republican presidential primaries in 1972, where he received just under 20% of the vote. McCloskey ran on a pro-peace and anti-Vietnam platform. After his defeat in the primaries, he continued to serve in Congress, and was the first congressman to call for Nixon's impeachment after the Watergate scandal had been exposed. The items in this grouping are reflective of McCloskey's pro-peace platform and include: "Pete Means Peace"; "Republican Dissenters For McCloskey"; "We Should Be Big Enough To Admit Our Mistakes. End The War"; "Pete For Peace And Sanity"; as well as buttons w/peace sign and peace dove iconography. All Exc. to NM.
