Item Description
2-3/8x3-7/8" on card stock. At the convention held in Cincinnati, Greeley won the nomination on the sixth ballot. Defeating Charles Francis Adams (son and grandson of John Quincy Adams and John Adams), as well as Benjamin Gratz Brown, Lyman Trumbull, and Andrew Gregg Curtin. Brown was later nominated for the VP position. Ticket is designated for "Plum Street Entrance". Has some moderate edge wear and a tiny 1/32" area of paper loss above the "P" in "Republican" along the black border. VF. Rare. From the only national Liberal Republican convention held before the party dissolved after Greeley's defeat and death at the end of 1872.
