3x3.75x1.75" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key comes in box w/label on lid. Box is marked "431" and toy is made in Germany w/patent date of 1895. Box wear includes some moisture staining to the lid label, 2" long strip missing from the rightside panel but remains tight and VG. Beetle is quite colorful and very detailed, includes separate wings. Toy works and as it crawls about, its wings flutter rapidly. Its back has some paint scratches caused by the wings rubbing against it o/w toy has just some scattered tiny paint marks. VF. Early and nicely designed.
