Item Description
6" long. Before Thomas Dewey was the Republican presidential nominee in 1944 and 1948, he was a hopeful in 1940. Dewey led the votes for the nomination at the 1940 Republican Convention on the first ballot, but quickly lost steam, as he was overtaken by Bob Taft and Wendell Willkie by the fourth ballot. Willkie ultimately received the nomination by the 6th ballot. Earlier in 1940, Dewey was campaigning for the nomination and one of his stops was at the Chicago Stadium on March 28. This ribbon is from that rally and designated to be worn by the "Committee" of the event. Only light wear and handling on the ribbon.  Scarce.
