Item Description
2.5x3.5". The 1971 Topps Baseball set consists of 752 cards. The cards boast a large color photo of the player printed within a thin white frame surrounded by a black border that were especially susceptible to chipping and wear. Topps chose the black border area upon which to rest the player's name, team and position, with a facsimile signature completing the front-side design. Specialty cards in this issue consist of statistical leaders and World Series and playoff high-lights. High-number cards #644-752 are scarce, with about half of the cards being short-printed.

Ernest Banks, nicknamed "Mr. Cub" and "Mr. Sunshine", was an American professional baseball player who starred in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a shortstop and first baseman for the Chicago Cubs between 1953 and 1971. Some of his career accomplishments include being a 14 time All-Star, a two time NL MVP and part of the MLB All-Century Team. Ernie Banks was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1977.
