Item Description
2.5x3.5". The 1958 Topps Baseball set consists of 494 cards. Each card front features either action poses or bust portraits with a solid color background. The player's name is printed across the top with his team affiliation across the bottom. The 1958 Topps set was the first to carry subsets (identified as "Sport Magazine All-Stars") and is host to a wealth of variations, including 33 pieces (between #s 2-108) that carry player or team names found in either yellow or white lettering, with the yellow version, including those of Aaron, Clemente and Kaline, being among the more cherished pieces. Topps withdrew card #145 from the set after its player, Ed Bouchee, was suspended from the game.
Mickey Charles Mantle , nicknamed "the Commerce Comet" and "the Mick", was an American professional baseball player. Mantle played his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career (1951-1968) with the New York Yankees as a center fielder, right fielder, and first baseman. Mantle was one of the best players and sluggers and is regarded by many as the greatest switch hitter in baseball history. Some of his many career accomplishments include being a 20 time All-Star, seven time World Series Champion, three time MVP and a Triple Crown winner. Mickey Mantle was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1974.
